Filmmaking is a tough game. With a career spanning over 40 years, writer / director Leszek Burzynski has precious wisdom to share. Beginning with his time working on iconic comedy shows of the BBC, his story has a cast that includes people like Harold Pinter, Michael Palin, Martin Sheen, Mike Leigh and even a guest cameo by Elton John. Leszek details the plight of the independent filmmaker, the moments that make movies work and why directing actors is a nightmare.

Leszek began his career in BBC Television Films in London and has subsequently spent more than 40 years in film, TV, theater and radio as a Producer, Director, Writer and Performer. He has gained a wide range of hands-on experience including filming in more than a dozen countries. Dual US/UK citizenship gives him a working advantage. After leaving the BBC, Leszek established Picture Partnership Productions with partner, Brian Eastman, which became one of the UK’s biggest providers of independent film and TV programming, including two films Leszek directed for Paramount Pictures.

His films have garnered various domestic and international awards and the latest documentary, “Living Life Forwards,” which he wrote, directed and hosted,is being internationally distributed by Octapixx. “Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain,” a feature film he co-executive produced starring Martin Sheen, Kal Penn and Mischa Barton, and shot in India, was released in the U.S. in December 2014 and across India shortly thereafter. Recently, Leszek formed a nonprofit with Winning Team partner, Terrance Sweeney. Its purpose is to educate people about end-of-life issues, initially with a feature-length documentary, “Bringing Death to Life,” and thereafter utilizing a broad communications platform.

Over many years Leszek has also written and directed more than 100 corporate, industrial, promotional and educational films as well as commercials and infomercials. In addition, he played the Gecko-hunting “Nature Expert” in a series of six Geico commercials, which played for 18 months on national television. For the past 2+ years he has been the voice of the nationally televised commercials for Atlantis Resorts & Casinos.
